Changes to Storage Policy
at BNSF's St. Paul, Minn. Intermodal Facility
August 2, 2004
To help maintain
fluidity and improve the throughput of shipments at BNSF's St. Paul
Intermodal Facility, changes to BNSF's intermodal storage policy are being
implemented effective September 1, 2004. Below is a summary of the
changes; additional details may be reviewed on the attached table.
Storage Rules
Changes - Effective date: September 1, 2004
- Free Time
- Free time starts upon
notification (shipment availability). Scheduled availability will no
longer be a factor in calculating free time.
- Free time is day of notification:
- Plus 48 hours for
private equipment
- Plus 24 hours for
rail-controlled equipment
- If notification occurs
after 5:00 p.m. CT, the day of notification is the following day.
- Storage Charges
- A new daily rate of $100
will be charged for both private and rail-controlled equipment
(excluding NACS equipment) once free time has expired.
- All service levels
(Expedited, Premium, Value, and Y-Empty) are affected.
- Weekend days will be
chargeable and will be incorporated into the storage charge
calculation.
Elimination of
"N" Service Level - Effective date: August 31, 2004
- The current "N"
service level rates and associated schedules with no weekend
availability will be eliminated for shipments into St. Paul.
- The "P" service
level that includes weekend availability will replace the
"N" service option into St. Paul. Therefore, weekend days
will be chargeable for all levels of service.
- Any shipment that
de-ramps at St. Paul at or after 12:01 a.m. CT on September 1, 2004,
will be charged the new storage rates.
At this time, the
above changes are applicable only at the St. Paul facility. BNSF will
continue to review other facilities and will communicate any future
modifications.
