Forbidden Commodities
Effective immediately, "Sodium
Dithionite" or "Sodium Hydrosulfite" Division
4.2 spontaneously combustible, UN 1384, STCC 4916179 has been added to the list
of commodities Forbidden for movement on Norfolk Southern. Appendix B of the Intermodal Rules Circular
#2 will be updated to reflect this change.
Free Time Reminder
As
was announced on January 17th, the Free Time provisions for In Bond private
equipment will be changed effective February 25, 2005.
- In Bond
containers and trailers arriving
at all NS terminals will be granted Free Time of Day of Notification (as
defined by the Rules Circular) plus two (2) days.
- Rules for Free Time on (1) private equipment that is empty, (2) loaded not requiring customs
clearance, and (3) all railroad equipment will remain as they are
currently (Day of Notification plus 2 days).
- Storage charges for units remaining on a terminal
beyond the expiration of Free Time will be $75 per day (or part of day)
for the first 10 days, and $100 per day (or part of day) thereafter.
Sections 7.1 and 7.2.3 of the
Intermodal Rules Circular will be updated to reflect these changes.
